Onlybody is a book of cut paper drawings of humans I made between 2015 and 2018. In Mexico City, I had an opportunity to compile them into a book and print an edition of thirty on the risograph printer at ATEA, where I held a residency in 2014. I once heard my grandmother say “I was the onlybody who…” and I’ve never heard the word before or since.
For sale at Printed Matter NYC: “Directly inspired by Matisse’s blue nudes, this edition by Alexander Hage comprises a number of suggestive and quietly beautiful cut-outs. The blue figures range from erotic to lonesome, and put the reader at creative liberty to create narratives and specific moods for each body.”
