As design director for Commune, I get to draw significantly from radical history, including the Detroit Printing Co-op, Radical America, and the Black Panthers. For issue 5, we commissioned Erik Carter to illustrate the current global wave of struggle for the cover; we worked with photographers in Santiago, Quito, Khartoum, Paris, and Hong Kong; and we commissioned ink and watercolor illustration throughout the magazine.
