Blends

After a bike crash in May 2013, I spent six weeks of recovery making cut paper illustrations of the liquified foods I was eating. I collected smoothie, soup, and milkshake recipes and mixed and matched them into my own concoctions – surprisingly never tiring of the blended diet.

A year later, living in Mexico City, drinking licuados, I printed an edition of 500 books and showed it in Golden Arrows’ exhibition, The Practice of Everyday Life. I was still missing three teeth, but I felt like a person reborn since that slow summer. A lot of people helped me get through that time in a lot of ways. I made this book for them.
